About the Department

The Department of Hindi and Other Languages was established to assist the students who choose their first language as Hindi / Sanskrit / French / Malayalam. The Department also conducts short term course in Hindi as a part of Value-added courses.

    • Inaugural Function of Rangmanch '23 and Orientation Programme on Career Guidance. Lt Cynthia George, Assistant Professor and Head of Department of French at Providence College for Women in Coonoor, served as the Resource Person. She led a powerful and impactful session titled "Multiple Languages, Multiple Opportunities" in which students from various disciplines benefited and learned a lot about how studying multiple languages may aid them in various aspects of their life and career.
    • Onam - Festival of Harvest was celebrated on 24.03.2023 to inculcate the tolerance and harmony towards, cultural, regional and linguistic diversities among the Students.
    • World Sanskrit Day was Celebrated on 28.098.2023 with a Quiz Contest on Ramayan and Mahabharat among the students as Intra College Meet to create awareness among the students about the rich cultural heritage of our country through one of the World's Classical language Sanskrit.
    • Hindi Divas was Celebrated on 20.09.2023 with various competitions like Picture Connection Quiz, Solo Song and Group Dance among the students as Intra College Meet to spread the spirit of learning Hindi as the Communicative Language
    • Festival of lights - Diwali was celebrated on the behalf of all the departments on 09.11.2023 to develop tolerance and harmony among students towards cultural, regional, and other diversities.
    • Book Review - Reading Marathon - under Literary Circle to develop the habit of reading among the students was organized every month on 21.07.2023, 31.08.2023, 22.09.2023 and 06.10.2023 respectively.

    • Inaugural of Rangmanch’22 with the Workshop on ‘Work from Home’ was organized on 12.08.2022 with Ms.Akshita Dayma, Team Leader, Fire 64 Group, Ludhiana, as the Resource Person.
    • Hindi Divas was celebrated by the Department on 14.09.2022 with the competitions for all the UG students of the college to make them aware of Hindi day and benefits of learning Hindi.
    • To inculcate the cultural heritage of the country, Festival of lights - Diwali was celebrated on the behalf of all the departments on 21.10.2022. Students participated in the celebration with more enthusiasm.
    • The Department organized 6 Book Reviews fortnightly since 06.01.2023. Nearly 20 Students have emerged as Book Reviewers through it.
    • The Department conducted Matrubhasha Divas with various competitions along with the Department of Tamil on 21.02.2023.
    • Holi - Festival of colours was celebrated on 08.03.2023 with cultural programmes.
    • BEEJ - Hindi Literacy Programme - Teaching Hindi to the School students of Panchayat Union Government Primary School, Veppampalayam, was carried out by the our students with service motive for the 11th consecutive year from 01.03.2023 to 12.04.2023. Learning aids were donated to the School students with free of cost during the occasion.
    • The Department of Hindi and other Languages along with the Ethics Club organized a Heritage tour to Bannari and nearby places on 07.04.2023.

    • Inaugural of Rangmanch ’21 was organized on 27.10.2021 with Dr. S.Ananda Vadivelou, Former Professor of French, Pondicherry University, Puducherry as the Resource Person through virtual platform. He spoke about ‘Language and Life Skills’.
    • Hindi Divas was celebrated by the Department on 14.09.2021 with the competitions among the UG students of other languages to bring out their talents like painting, drawing, Singing, Dancing, acting, video making, pencil sketching etc.,
    • To inculcate the cultural heritage of the country, Festival of lights - Diwali was celebrated on the behalf of all the departments on 02.11.2021. Students participated in the celebration with more enthusiasm.
    • The Department organized a two-day workshop on content writing for the UG students along with the Departments of Tamil and English on 05.01.2022 and on 06.01.2022. Mr. Pugal, a film director from Chennai was the resource person.
    • The Department organized Matrubhasha Divas with various competitions along with the Department of Tamil on 21.02.2022.
    • The Department of Hindi and other Languages along with the Departments of Tamil and English organised a Guest Lecture entitled GENDERING: NEW WORD! NEW MEANING! on 01. 04. 2022.
    • The Department of Hindi and other Languages along with the Ethics Club organized a Heritage tour to Coimbatore on 05.04.2022.
    • BEEJ- Hindi Literacy Programme- Teaching Hindi to the School students of Panchayat Union Government Primary School, Kathirampatti, was carried out by the our students with service motive for the 10th consecutive year from 21.04.2022 to 04.05.2022. Learning aids were donated to the School students with free of cost during the occasion.
    • Book Review was organized on 09.05.2022 under Hindi Sahitya Samiti for the students.

    • ‘RANGMANCH-20’ was inaugurated on 05.08.2020, by Dr.S.Preeti, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Hindi, SRM University,Kattankulathur and she spoke on ‘Benefits of Language Learning’.
    • A National Level Quiz was organized on 19.08.2020 on ‘Facts of Languages’.
    • A National level webinar was organized on 12.09.2020 on the topic ‘Contemporary stories of Hindi and Tamil’. Dr.V.Padmavathy, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Hindi, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore, was the Resource Person.
    • A debate on the topic ‘Who is working hard for the betterment of Family – Men or Ladies? ’ for Hindi students was organized on 14.09.2020 on the eve of HINDI DIVAS CELEBRATION among the UG students. Ms.S.Franny (Alumna), Managing Director, Franny Textiles,Erode, served as the judge for the Programme.
    • Film Review was organized on 28.10.2020 under Hindi Sahitya Samiti for the students.
    • Mother Language day was celebarated on 22.02.2021.
    • Valediction of Rangmanch was organized and on 11.03.2021 and Mr.Kumar Palanisamy, Deputy Manager, HCL Technologies, Chennai and Ms. Vonothini Naveenkumar, Senior Trainer, Yes Japan Org, Erode, were the Resource Persons. They delivered Guest Lectures on the topics, Importance of Foreign Languages’ and ‘Opportunities for Japanese Language in India and Japan’.
    • A Inter-Department Online Quiz Programme for all the UG and PG students of the college was organized on Guru Tegh Bahadur was conducted on 18.04.2021 in commemoration with his 400th Birth Anniversary.

    • Inauguration of Rangmanch’19 with Orientation Programme was organized on 19.07.2019 and Dr. C.Muralidhara Kannan, Assistant Professor, PG Research Department of English, Government Arts College, Coimbatore, was the Resource Person.
    • A Hindi Debate on ‘Which is the better way to Live Happily and Stay Healthy- Traditional Lifestyle or Modern Lifestyle?’ was organized under Hindi Sahitya Samiti on 20.08.2019.
    • Hindi Divas was celebrated on 16.09.2019 with intramural talent show (Both On stage and Off stage events) among the First year, Second Year and Third Year UG Students.
    • Heritage tour was organized jointly with Ethics Club on 02.10.2019 to Pollachi for the students to make them understand our cultural values and gain knowledge about the heritage of our country.
    • A Guest Lecture on ‘Basics of Sanskrit Grammar’ will be conducted on 11.10.2019 with Dr.M.Archana, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Seethalakshmi Achi College, Karaikudi, as the Resource Person.
    • A Guest Lecture in French Language will be conducted on 11.10.2019 with Ms.P.Joshitha Sharon, Head, Alliance Francaise de Madras, Coimbatore Chapter a the Resource Person.
    • Kavi Sammelan and Putak Sameeksha were organized under Hindi Sahitya Samiti on 29.01.2020.
    • Beej- Hindi Siksha Abhiyaan - Teaching Hindi to students of Panchayat Union Primary School, Kathirampatti was started on 03.02.2020 with service motive under the extension activity. Learning tools like notebooks, books etc., were donated to the school kids on the occasion. It will be continued till 14.03.2020.
    • Matrubhasha Divas(Mother Language day) will be celebrated on 21.02.2020 and Singing, Cooking Without Fire and Ethnic Wear competitions were conducted for all the UG students.
    • Valediction of the Department will be conducted on 05.03.2020.

    • A Debate on ‘Kis Tharah Ke Parivaar Mein Rahna Achcha Hota Hai – Ekal Parivaar ya Anyukth Parivaar?’ (Which kind of family is better to live in Nuclear Family or Joint Family) was organized under Hindi Sahitya Samiti on 18.07.2018.
    • Inauguration of Rangmanch’18 with Orientation Programme was organized on 13.08.2018 and Dr. Jaya Sankar Babu, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Hindi, Pondicherry University, Puducherry was the Resource Person.
    • Hindi Divas was celebrated on 24.09.2018 with intramural talent show (Both On stage and Off stage events) among the First year, Second Year and Third Year UG Students.
    • A Guest Lecture on ‘Basics of Sanskrit Grammar’ was conducted on 07.09.2018 and Dr.A.Gunaseelan, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Sanskrit, Sourashtra College, Madurai, was the Resource Person. He also delivered a Guest lecture on 05.02.2019.
    • A Guest Lecture in French Language was conducted on 28.09.2018 and Mr.Calixte Bruno Zhille, Assistant Professor in French, RVS College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, was the Resource Person.
    • Workshop on Creative Writing – Short Stories was organized on 23.01.2019 and Dr,V,Padmavathy, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Hindi, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore was the Resource Person.
    • Beej- Hindi Siksha Abhiyaan - Teaching Hindi to students of Panchayat Union Primary School, Rayapalayam was started on 31.01.2018 with service motive under the extension activity. Learning tools like notebooks, books etc., were donated to the school kids on the occasion. It will be continued till 14.03.2019.
    • Heritage tour is organized jointly with Ethics Club on 16.02.2019 to Tiruchirapalli for the students to make them understand our cultural values and gain knowledge about the heritage of our country.
    • Matrubhasha Divas(Mother Language day) will be celebrated on 21.02.2019 and Drawing, Singing and Cooking Without Fire competitions were conducted for all the UG students.
    • Valediction of the Department will be conducted on 26.02.2019.

    • A Debate on ‘Vyakthi Ke liye Sahakarmi dabaav Haanikarak hai ya Fayademand’ ( Is Peer Pressure Harmful or Beneficial to an individual) was organized under Hindi Sahitya Samiti on 13.07.2017.
    • Inauguration of Rangmanch ’17 with Personality Development Programme was organized on 31.07.2017 and Dr.V.Jagannadha Reddy, Sr.Assistant Professor & Former Head,Department of Hindi, Annamalai University, Chidambaram was the Resource Person.
    • A One Day State Level Workshop on Poetry Writing was organized on 21.08.2017 and Mr.Ishwar Karun, Vice President, Tamilnadu Hindi Sahitya Academy, Chennai was the Resource Person. Students and Faculty Members from various colleges in and around Erode district participated in it.
    • Hindi Divas was celebrated on 14.09.2017 with intramural talent show (Both On stage and Off stage events) among the First year, Second Year and Third Year UG Students.
    • A one day workshop on job oriented (skill based) in Hindi Typing was conducted on 29.12.2017.
    • Heritage tour was organized jointly with Ethics Club on 21.01.2018 to Madurai for the students to make them understand our cultural values and gain knowledge about the heritage of our country.
    • Beej- Hindi Siksha Abhiyaan - Teaching Hindi to students of Panchayat Union Primary School, Rayapalayam was started on 29.01.2018 with service motive under the extension activity.
